The administration
is a development of the region Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Apart of the management of protected areas, it has for function the lower authority of the Nature Conservation, and it is responsible for the implementation of legislations in force in the region Mecklemburg-Vorpommern.
Following the recognition as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1991, the tasks attributed to the administration have been considerably increased. In addition to the safeguarding of considerable sites and species, the Reserve has done a large work with the public. These tasks include environmental education, research and encouragement of regional development.

Our offices are located in Blieschow, part of the Lancken-Granitz municipality.

In addition, a branch of our office was opened in Granitzhaus close to the Jagdschloss.
On site are the offices of our Rangers, who make monitoring of the nature and are the main interlocutors for residents and visitors of protected areas.
