Federal Project

Since 1979 the German Democratic Republic founded the program "Building and security of natural areas worthy of protection and landscapes which have important meaning" to ensure its contribution to the conservation of its natural heritage and fulfilling its international commitments.

Thanks to the enforcement of this aid program, the natural landscape should be durably preserved and cultural landscapes with their excellent habitat for protected flora and fauna will be developed.

Since 1995 the project of nature conservation "landscapes of east Rügen’s Bodden" has been transformed to contain the entire surface of the south - east Rügen’s Biosphere Reserve.

The bearer of this project is the Landschaftspflegeverband Ostrügen.
